68 L71 Conv 435hp tri power - matching numbers
« on: May 22, 2007, 10:44:11 PM »
Hi All,

I'm thinking about parting with my baby.
However I'm not sure what it is worth. I've seen a few go for sale at Shannons for $76k and $85k a few years ago, but I thought that I would see what the forum members think she might be worth.

68' Factory L71 convertible 435hp 427 tri-power. LHD
4 speed close ratio manual
Posi Traction diff
All matching numbers except for alternator
84000 geniune miles
Still have partial tank sticker, however faded a little.
No PS
No PB
No PW
Was previously registered in NSW.
Just raw grunt !!
Everything works including all guages (even the clock) except for the following;
1. Instrument lights. Been told from numerous US Corvette forum members it is the headlight switch. I have a new switch however haven't put it in yet.
2. Needs jack, spare wheel and spare wheel cover. These are really easy to find in the USA.

The car is red in colour in very nice condition. The car is very clean underneath and hasn't had any underbody coating to hide anything.

I have receipts going back about 16 years or more.
The car was stored for 14 years and has only been driven 2 times in the last 2 years just locally.

Yes, Car is located in Sydney.
I let it run out of Rego as I just wasn't driving it enough, however getting it registered is simple and won't need anything.
Only reason for thinking about selling is I've got a growing family now with two new babies, so unfortunately all my toys will need to go for a while.

Good luck with it.  I'm sure one of the lads will chime in with their thoughts on it's value.  I would imagine it should move fairly quickly.

Absolutely beautifull.

Im sure you wont have any problem selling this gorgeous baby 427ozVette.

Being a tripower, you should be looking around the $80k plus mark.

Goodluck....

If you have the real car Its worth more in the US than here. In this country we are paying up to 150K for a 68 Monaro, 700K for a GT HO your vette is a steal at 100K well thats one opinion. By the way whats the red line on the tach.

SDay is right on the money. Get an estimate to ship to the USA and try your luck on e-bay motors. You might find that you can send these nippers to private schools!!!!!

It is definately a real L71.  The tach redline is 6500.

They way the US-Aussie dollar is at the moment, i think that I will hang onto it for a while before advertising it in the USA.

The aussie muscle cars are fetching rediculous money at the moment.
A mate of mine has a few Monaro's including an original Bathurst Monaro, a original Bathurst (Brock spare) A9X Torana factory race car, XU1 and etc. So he is sitting on a small gold mine with these little beauties.
