When I checked out the car at Goulburn I had a look at the air flow sensor and it is covered in oily dusty stuff, :20 I have a K&N air filter, so I can only gather the oil/dust is from that. I thought these filters WERE surposed to stop that. I cleaned and reoiled the filter about 16 months ago and done around 1500 klms in that time. Whats the best way to clean this sensor.
Found them, I reckon some RAT hid them.

Onya,
If it is the air flow metre be careful as these are extreemly sensitive. If it is just the mesh screens on either side of the air flow metre you can carefully remove the locating ring and remove the screen to clean it away from the metre. Just get some carby cleaner and clean the screens and then re install them. Do not under any circumstances try and clean the wire that runs in the middle of the air flow meter as you will probably damage it and then need a new air flow.

The other thing you might want to do is remove the oxygen sensor and clean it to as it may also be gummed up and causing your computer to sense bad air fuel reading.
