I have been informed that
there is a meeting  in the next few weeks to discuss further restrictions

Its going to get harder to  get Full Rego  in the near furture

Would have been nice of the RTA to put change bars in the margins, but then when did the RTA do anything useful?

From what I have read so fare there is some ambiguity

 
obviously there are trying to slow down  or stop the imports
to counter the exchange rate  making importing cheaper

I have not yet  been able to find out if this  is a gazetted law or  just guidelines
NSW RTA seem to be a law of their own
a state  whit in a state

It seems to clarify a lot of questions which regularly get asked on the forum RE seat belts, blinkers colour, head lights etc. I dont think there is anything untoward in that document that hasn't been in place since they introduced the RAWS System in about 2000.

Hi All

For those that are interested in the NSW Vehicle Standards (VSB14) here is a link to the site page, its a multi part document and explains what amendments to the rules the RTA want to put in place by the time the VSCCS (new engineers scheme) is ready very soon.

This is the Guideline to which we will have to build our cars as the future unfolds, there are things that stand out and need to be addressed as a matter of concern and they are being addressed as we speak with consultation by the ACMC Inc and other very important parties of which most are doing this voluntarily for the good of the Motor Enthusiast.

Pass this to each and every Enthusiast you can who wishes to know all the rules that are being proposed for modified cars in NSW.

There are some very good points in the make up of these intended changes
However with most government changes to any laws or guide lines
The under laying agendas are hidden in the detail.
Ones need to read carful all of the paper work that is on the RTA sit concerning this matter.
 
One has to point out  
That when talking to Politicians or their representative
You must keep in mind that old adage about Politicians
Referring to how do you tell if a Politician is lying.

I was talking the  a tech  rep at the RTA yesterday about the rego process for my 70 model
I was told that for that model all the is required is  blue slip, weigh bridge certificate.  and import paper work.

This is almost correct if the car has not been modified in any way and is as manufactured.
ADRS #4 and #5A would definitely apply and depending on the month of manufacture ADRS #7 and #20 could apply.
ADRS #4and #5A relate to seat belts
ADR #7 is about hydraulic brake hoses
ADR #20 would only apply if built after July 1970

There are some things obviously that need to be rectified
Light being one
Indicators  headlights etc.
Seat belts  should be replace with the appropriate  items
( how ever I know of  quite a few vehicle that have been registered with the original American belt in place)
Most of us would not put our loved ones in a vehicle we know to be unsafe
it is surprising  the difference approach  between a vehicle built before and after 1972

VSCCS provides one stop shop for modified vehicles
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has announced a new scheme which aims to streamline the assessment of modified vehicles.

“The new Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme (VSCCS) comes into effect from today and is good news for RMS customers as it will provide them with certainty their modified vehicle is safe,” Director Regulatory Services Peter Wells said.

“The new scheme does not change the existing vehicle standards but improves the way vehicle modifications are checked and certified,” he said.

“Every modified vehicle owner has an obligation to ensure their vehicle complies in order to protect themselves, their passengers and other road users.”

“The VSCCS will replace the current Engineering Certification Scheme. The old scheme is outdated and paper based, leaving it open to fraudulent certifications and missing records,” he said.......

I received a  info sheet from the MTA yesterday
that mirrors the posting link above
IT is a brief  statement  that covers a vast subject
the detail will be in the fine print that accompanies the legislation

Time will tell if this works or is just the start to phase out modified and custom vehicles and take away another  of  our choices

Has anyone had experience with obtaining a VSCCS certificate?

I hear this is now a new requirement for NSW registration for all imported vehicles.

Be skeptical of any one that has a vested interest.
When a politician gets involved  its to promote their own agenda  Remember if the mouth is moving they are lying.

After asking around, it's not required if the car is pre Aug 1972 and unmodified, then you only require a blue slip ... apparently.
