Importing a C3 from US
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:09:11 AM »
Hi,

I have just joined the forum. I am buying my first Corvette, a C3 '69, through a friend in Florida. This is the combination of an old dream and mid-life crisis.

What is the latest advice for import? Are there recent experiences and recommendations. The car is in Florida and I live in Sydney.

T

Ship it to LA and send it from there will be the first tip.
Peter Leahy inports is great to use but they are on the Gold Coast.  I'm sure someone down south will have a recommendation.

i got mine shipped from New jersey, im sure florida should not be a great deal. i think the guy's name was steve white, 0416 182399.  keep in mind u gotta pay port fees, quarantine and possible fumigation, GST on the price and the shipping costs, and the title papers have 2 be physically at the port of shipping before they let the car leave. good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will follow up.

Do you also have a recommendation for where to inspect the car prior to registration? I live on the Central Coast to be precise.
