Hi All,

Next nightmare, mechanic visited home tonight to give me a pre inspection, says the tyres wont pass, I have looked extensively on the net and no one seems to make a tyre of similar size, stock tyres on car at moment are Goodyear GT's 255/60-15. Closest size I can find in any brand is 235/75-15 but they are 40mm narrower and may not fit the rim bead width, they need to be the same circumfrence.  I need to check with experts tomorrow.

If you have stock rims please tell me what tyres you have.

Thanks, Dennis.

On my 69 I had 255/60-15s all round and didnt have a problem! It may be different in Qld? What makes him think they wont pass? They were standard on 82's I think which is virtually the same as yours!

I read it wrong, I thought you meant they wouldnt let u pass on that size tyre! Aussie tyre dealers usually dont have that size on the shelf! Can U up to buying from the US (they are swimming in that size!)?

There's a contact link also. Looks like they do the size you want. The importer is John Cain of Newcastle.

Its all good, I have ordered 4 new tyres from beaurepairs, they stock Cooper Cobra GT's white letter tyres designed specifically for 60's+70's muscle cars. I was quoted the Yok's but they were $350 each and I really didnt want asian named tyres if I could help it, silly I know but thats just the way I am, I really like white letter tyres on these cars so it suits me perfectly. Turns out the Coopers were only $215 fitted, I did read that they arent the best tyres in the wet but I really dont care as I avoid wet driving anyway.
