Update Z06
« on: October 28, 2007, 06:54:19 PM »
We have order a few parts from the States, from LG Motorsport, for the Z06 but in the meanwhile we started our first mod: a custom 4-1 extractors were made and fitted.

Here is the dyno sheet before and after:

Also notice how the power does not drop off, after 220kmph.

Will post pictures soon!

What an awesome machine!

I've read in some of the US Z06 forums that with bolts ones (headers, intake), a tune and higher reading US dynos it is realtively easy to get an LS7 to 505HP (rated crank HP) at the wheels.

436 aussie HP would probably look like 500HP on a US dyno.

It is amazing the gains that can be made with this engine. The LS7 was designed specifically for the ALMS series where it would be fitted with a restrictor because of the Vette dominance of the series. It has enormous naturally aspirated breathing ability when no restrictor is present. The downside is that it is apparently not a good candidate for forced induction.

The bottom line is std.
The middle line is with 4-1 extractors, hi-flow cats and new x pipe.
The top line is tuned.

This is the largest natural aspirated figure yet on our dyno. Notice the differance at 227kph almost 90rwhp:fun

Cheers, Joe

Thats probably why they're goin with the LS3 (because its supercharged) rather than the LS7 for the new ZR-1!

That configuration is correct, but the rumored engine name for the forced induction 6.2L is LS9.

There are/were rumors of DOHC on the new motor also but I'm not sure whether that has been ruled out or otherwise at this stage.

That's unbelievable power for an engine that's still basically stock.:v
It apears that CSV in Vic have started to plonk these things in GTS commodores and the like. Interesting times ahead.

Check the link above to digital corvettes there are pictures of the LS9 there (no DOHC).

Been a while but we have fitted a ram intake and adjusted the tune to suit on the Z06.

There was always talk of how much power could the vette make while not opening the engine.......

Impressive, equates to 619 flywheel HP. From 5400 to 6400 rpm, the car never drops under 500rwhp :fun

Next w/e there is a meeting at WSID, with Falcon GT Club, we will test the Z06. We will try MT ET Streets 275*40 17s and see if we can get some traction to run some 11s

Last time, stock, it ran 12.2 @125mph with 2.2 60'

Cheers
