I suppose if you compare it to other custom built replicars that are built to this calibre, like say a shelby cobra, then i would say its price would be in the ballpark.
A completed turn key GT40 replica for example costs about AU$150,000.
The used car price is obviously very different to the cost of actually building one so i would doubt that a workshop could build one of these corvettes for US$55,000 (AU$67,000).
So in my opinion if you've ever wanted one these and can't afford an original then i'd say it's worth it.
Probably drives better than an original as well.;42

I think calling this car a "replica" is being too kind.  Because if ...

"THIS BEAUTIFUL HAND CRAFTED AUTOMOBILE WAS CUSTOM BUILT TO EXACT SPECIFICATIONS OF THE ORIGINAL"...

... then it would sport an underpowered 6 cylinder rather than a 350ci Chevrolet SB V8 (vintage unspecified).   Further, there is no mention of what made up the rest of the power train apart from the fact that it has an auto box.  It apparently has a Chevy Nova chassis with "proven GM components."  So what, apart from the kit body panels, is left to tie this car to the original 1953 roadster?  The badges and shiny trinkets maybe?

Whilst it is a nice enough looking car(in the pictures), it aint a Corvette.   I think it's correct description should be "Nice Kit Car on a Chevy Nova chassis with proven GM components".

Finally, note the seller is a car dealer and in amongst the copious sugary spiel there is no mention of who (pro or amateur) put it together.

Maybe, but for US$55,000 I think I'd rather pay the extra few bucks and go after the 'Real Deal'... a 2007 Corvette Convertible.... :-)
