I have a few more questions for the brains trust

1) I have an open circuit in the horn wiring from the top of the steering column to the relay - the black wire. Does it go through the  Harmonica connector on the column or any other connector?

2) I cannot turn the ignition key anti-clockwise into the accesories position, is it the barrel or is there an adjustment?

3) When I push the emergency flasher button (on the column) it will not lock in, however the flashers do work. Is this part of the indicator switch mechanisim or a seperate switch, any clues on a fix would be appreciated.

Thanks, Allen.  :tears:

Yes, from the column, through the harmonica and the bulkhead, to the relay.

Possibly and adjustment at the switch, mounted at the base of the column, operated by a rod from the barrel.

It's a part of the same switch

The hazards are supposed to lock in but cancel when the steering wheel is turned. rotate the wheel and see if the switch was on the "cancel" part of the cam preventing the lock in.

any more info on when your getting the short  in the horn wiring.
is it when the door is open and key in the ignition.

My emergency  light   switch stays in and  needs to be manually pulled out.

with the acc position  try pushing the Key (mechanism ) in,  then turn anticlockwise

I have seen too many instances where people continue to pursue wrong courses of action because they do not take the time to think critically about what has happened in the past.''

Yes Bfit these are like the old holdens - push in then turn anticlockwise.

The emergency flashers should not be disengeged by the cam or anything else in the collmn, they should require you to pull the switch out manually to disengege them. This allows you to drive slowly in the breakdown lane with the blinkers on.

Maybe on later vehicles but 68 has cancelling if you turn the wheel.
