Anyone got an exploded view or photos of how it works?
Mine was in bits due to previous owner embarking on chain type LHD/RHD conversion. I bought a S/H column but it too was in bits. I have worked out how everything goes together with the exception of the tele part.
I have a photo of the bits I have; but don't know how to post [Cameron??].

I'm assuming it's a tilt unit as well?

e-mail the pics to me and I'll put them up for you.

Cam,
Have sent you the photo.
Yes, mine is tilt and tele.
I have no problems with the tilt part of the column.
From your exploded view I have 55, 70 & 71 but not 69?
There are no indents or similar within sliding shaft mechanisim so how does the tele part lock in to the selected position?

There is a lock ring that goes on the steering wheel attached to a star screw that goes in the middle of the steering shaft.  When the screw is done up by turning the lock ring clockwise it pulls up a wedge into the shaft and binds it in place.

Thanks Cam, The light bulb cam on and your follow up confirmed its a "screw' fit. I wondered why the horn button/steering wheel trim had this eloborate set-up. I went through all the boxes of bits that came with my Vette, but nothing like part "69" from the exploded view. I have used a piece of brass rod [all I had in that diameter] as a test and it works fine. I assume the original is a steel rod?

Thanks again.
