Hello people , First time postee In need of advice ,I have an 81 Vette I also Have weld racing wheels ,I have been to a few shows and have seen them fitted on vettes and would like to know how they got around the calliper clearance , I know of the spacer option with longer studs but dont like it, Wondered If any one could Help.

Does this mean that you have tried to put them on and they havent fit? They may not have the right backspace measurements to fit properly, if the backspace is wrong they will either HIT (the caliper) or STICK OUT the guards to far! And I assume they are 15inch rims?
Im not sure what the proper backspacing is for an 81, maybe someone can tell us? I would assume all C3's have the same backspace measurement. I forget what mine used to be?

Thanks for the reply,What I have is a 81 vette with rear flares extended 3 inches the rims are 10 by 15 with 295 tyres , the spacing on the inner rim is set the same as the vettes original mags . As the vette callipers exeed the stud face by about 8mm, the original mag is cast with that clearance, Weld wheels do not,I have fitted the wheels for inspection without callipers and everything else clears, Ive also fitted them with the 8mm spacers with callipers fitted, but this starts to put the tred pattern out side the flares plus I feel spacers are unsafe aswell as not rta approved ,What I was hopeing for was an altunative calliper ie twin piston such as vt commodore  or the like which would give what I need.

mmmmmmmm....I wonder then if the shape of the middle section - doesnt come out far enough...as in too flat compared to a vette wheel? Thus not letting the caliper fit? I'm not sure what you can do? you could get the rim widened by a centimeter? But that could be expensive.Do you know for sure if the Commodore caliper fits, and you probably would have to modify or make a bracket. What car did the wheels come off?
Can Anyone else help out there?

The wheels were bought for the vette because I love the look I knew mods where needed and having seen them on other vettes new it wasnt imposable also have a fitting machineing trade new I could make these mods if needed ,just thought Id see if someone had knowledge first hand. Just a question on the c3 corvettes where they always a vented rear disc with 4 piston callipers ,or is there a chev built twin piston calliper that might be a straight bolt on.

All C3s were all 4 piston/vented! A good idea if you need info and cant get it from here, another good place to find info is http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/ This is a HUGE US Corvette site, register like you do here and ask a question. Usually someone will get back to you very quickly! They are a lot more knowledgable than us ozzies!
