Window washer not working
« on: January 30, 2013, 08:56:03 PM »
Found a new window wash tank to replace the original that was split.  Gave it a test run and nothing.  It seems the pump is not pumping.  Anyone with experience with washer motor problems out there.  Doesn't seem to run at all.

They're fairly simple, with a 12v+ IGN supply from the wiper motor and a ground (-) when you press the wash button.
It has a solenoid that activates a cam on the wiper motor that drives the pump
Test it first, but if it doesn't even "click" It's probably shot

I gather they were pretty unreliable. The previous owner of my C3 fitted a tank with washer motor on it, possibly from a Holden, and left the broken unit on the back of the wiper motor for completeness.
It's C3 chromie for me, see? Si!

Hi Stu, is there power from the wiper switch to the washer motor?
Have you purchase an aftermarket washer bottle with motor “all one unit” or, is the pump running off the wiper motor as Dave has mentioned?
