New car and a couple silly questions!
« on: September 18, 2012, 07:14:06 AM »
Hi All,

Now that i have my bigblock in my own hands, I am very exited!.

I just have a few questions.

some are real basic, so dont laugh!!

Does anyone know the oil filter part No? I tried to look at supercheap, but chevy parts arnt on the list!
I have a 427 bigblock.

also, is there any one you can recomend for brake and suspention parts here in Australia? I need new springs and want to get my brakes working a little better.
I would like to keep my buisness here in Australia for parts.

I also need a owners manual, for 69 convertable tri power. If anyone has one for sale, i would like to buy one.

silly question,
What are the silver knobes on the right and left hand side of the dash, down the very bottom. I thought it was for lights, but there is one on the passanger side also.

One more, who do i contact to become a financial member of the corvette club.

Thanks

Dan Rebel

For brakes and suspension, I have been using Vette brakes and Products.

Because it is a US car, there are limited parts available and most stuff will be imported from the US anyway.
So if you do purchase from Australia, you won't really be 'keeping your business in Australia'. You'll just be paying extra to a middle man so he can bring in the stuff from the states.
Mustangs seem to be a different case, as there are a few places with decent stock and decent prices, but there are many more Mustangs in the country it seems to justify this.

The silver knobs are probably to open/close the air vents flaps.
For brake /suspension parts try Ponti world in Oak Flats has most of the common parts that wear.
To join the club come to a club meeting or contact the secretary.
Oil filter I would assume is the same as small block if you are buying at Super Cheap have a look at HK Holden 327/350 listing there is a long & short version check out the length that is on the car. It may foul engine pipe

Mate with no booster the brakes are not going to be brilliant
But they will work if you apply sufficient  force.
A booster will most likely give you a much better feel

Ryco Z24 oil filter - or equivalent. Same for small or big blocks. Not having power brakes is something you have to get used to or put one in. If the car is original, most people will say to keep it that way but it is your car.
