Well Rob, as we all know crate it would have been quicker (less time off the road) and a more cost effective exercise  but I've now gotten all me parts sorted I think con rods and most of the hardware coming out of summit, Dart Heads (bear)  http://www.dartheads.com/products/catalogsearch/result/?q=11120010P%09&x=30&y=12
After much to-ing and fro-ing  everywhere Dart Heads are now coming form believe it or not :ohoh: a bloke around the corner from me in the Gong cause he had a set on order and they are currently at the wharfs in Aust, Summit and evryone else was saying mid June to july for est delivery on the heads I wanted.
Gear box waiting on
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350560902025?item=350560902025&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:eRTM:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_971 landed this week so should be back together next week....

HEi Dizzy is in Melbourne getting calibrated, Radiator is ready to pick up... waiting on Zip to get in stock the correct H. Duty (tapped treaded) Slip Yoke and resend it that way can finalise the drive shaft and balance...
Piston set I ended up getting form a bloke on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/3504331565....33?item=350433156533&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr    No No Not using that rings set just the pistons, again Summit and everyone else said mid June for delivery... so all going to plan I reckon we should be getting all the parts within the next week or so.... therefore allowing the machine shop to machine block to suit pistons and all going to plan, pre assemble end of month, early June, final machining and reassembling, so hoping (fingers crossed) end of june back on the road? The game plane was to have her back on the road for me birthday june 12th but ya know how things go:

By the look of those pistons you must be keeping the compression ratio low.
You will be able to the low octane fuels.

what about something like these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SBC-CHEVY-350-4-030-BORE-6-00-ROD-FORGED-DOME-PISTON-SET-PROBE-SRS-13723-030-/251066916668?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a74c11f3c&vxp=mtr
and burn 98, get the advance up to mid 30s, and make that mouse  run.:drag:

I am sure there was some sort of engine package that had alloy heads
Like the L89 mmmmm oh yes that's a big block
I think the angled plug aluminium heads came along in the mid eighties.
You know my opinion
If it makes it go better modify it

Mate I know I am  most likely preaching to the wise here
But make sure those linkages are adjusted before the box is back in the car.

A pain the the rear  to adjust after   that box is fitted.

Can I make a suggestion  here
Before fitting the box,  get an adjustable pivot ball
Mcleod   do one PN 16908

You can get the  through out fork in the best position.
for maximum clearance. ( from the body at full release position   )

Jeff has an aftermarket shifter in his car is easy to adjust because when I fixed the trans tunnel for him I allowed for a small window in the side, made him a key to line up shifter gates in nuetral. Then it is simply a case of  adjusting the linkage to slide onto shafts on box

Finally :bannana::bannana: pistons arrived last week and block was therefore able to be machined to suit. Not bad only .0005" variance between all 8 pistons
