I am curious  
what is an average time frame to lift the body off a 69

I have read a bit about it But  have not seen any info on the time involved

And then  the problem on  where is the best points  to sling the body to lift

 Then there is the question
does the body need to be mounted on a frame to prevent any sagging  If it is off a a good lenth of time

Whilst no time frame given, this may assist.  From Chromie's post in this thread http://nswcorvettes.com.au/forum/viewthread.php?tid=3706#pid1045914660

A frame to support the body is recommended as far as we know.  There is a drawing of how to build one out pf wood.  We' will see if we can find it and post it for you.

Chassis rails from 1968-1979 can be interchanged
The only problem that you may or may not have is the back of the chassis rail may require some modifications in order to mount either the chrome bumper bar 1968-73
or the urethane/rubber bumper bar as the bracket locations may be different.
In order to remove a body from the chassis rail you need to do the following
1/ Remove front and rear bumper bars chrome or urethane.
2/ Remove battery earth from beside the differential
3/ Disconnect the front hand brake cable fromthe rear cable and remove the pulley
4/ Disconnect the seat belt cable
5/ Remove the steering column from the steering box
6/ Disconnect the rear wiring loom earth from the rear of the left chassis rail
7/ Disconnect the earth from the left front body mount (just in front of firewall)
8/ Remove radiator assembly and support panel
9/ Disconnect all wiring from engine and transmission & accelerator cable from carburettor & hose from pollution canistor
10/ Disconnect auto select cable from transmission (manuals do not require any removal/disconnections)
11/ Disconnect heater hoses from firewall
12/ Remove all eight body mount bolts
13/ Remove nose support mount (urethane bar corvettes)
14/ Lift up body making sure that no items get caught while lifting up the body
AND YOU ARE DONE.

I like the RHS  frame
 I will be manufacturing  one

when I start on the body removal I will post the time taken

I still need  input on lifting the body

Corvette Body Lift Kit, 1963-1982
Heavy-Duty Straps & Metal Hooks
Specific To Corvette Body
Won't Damage Fiberglass
12’ Ceiling Is Recommended Or Perform Lift Outside
This sling allows you to grab the body at ideal points. It lifts the body straight up and won't damage the fiberglass body.


As per mid America Lifting Instructions PDF....
Step 1. The removal of Rocker Panel Covers is recommended.

Step 2.  Locate the metal railing that runs along the side of your Corvette under the Rocker Panel.

Step 3. Two straps are 68” long and two are 70” long. Use them in pairs, either front or rear, depending on the
year of car and how many items have been removed from the body.

Step 4. With the sling hanging above the body, attach the straps to the steel railing just forward of the doors.
Make sure the hooks are inside the steel railing. (The steel railing does not run the entire length of the
rocker panel area.)

Step 5. Attach the other pair of matching length straps to the rear area just in front of the door gap area, making
sure the hooks are in contact with the steel railing.

Step 6. While starting to lift check for parts still attached to the body. Also check the balance. Balance can be adjusted by moving location of the straps in the appropriate position.

Step 7. With all areas checked, lift the body and remove the frame from under the body.

Step 8. Immediately lower on a suitable cart or trailer as soon as possible, being careful not to get between the
body and the surface.

Scott from Corvette Alterations in Sydney (Dee Why) should be able to supply you with these straps or equivalent there of.

MMM the video looks like a work cover night mare in  progress.

I will get in touch  re the sling early  next week Scott.
I may need to talk to you about a problem I have with a tilt steering column as well.

Most people do.  The first video of the guys lifting the body off was just a tongue in cheek and not recommended.
