Jethro:
I also have the retro look with 17x8 (4" bs) with Nitto 245/45/17 for the front and 18x9.5 (5.25" bs) with Nitto 275/40/18 for the rear.
I would have liked to have gone wider on the rear but didn't want to fit flares and also wanted to keep the tyres contained in the fenders.

Hey Wabco,
Ya reckon you'll have the bend the inner lips up on your guards or do you reckon they'll fit without scrubbing????

I wouldn't try 'bending' the lips of the guards :club:
Going from a 4 inch bs to a 5+ inch BS will put the wheel over an inch closer in and since the tyre isn't that much wider, it won't be too near the guard at all. I want to run a minimum 275 on the rear of mine and I imagine it will be fun and games experimenting with width, offset and car height to get it to fit right.
The 17/18 staggering doees look good though. I was planning 18's all around.

Now that I've had 18's all round I reckon it's just a little too big in the front. Needs that tiny bit more tire in my opinion.

I just got 18x8 all round 4" backspace and am about to fit. 245/45/18 front 255/45/18 rear.
When you say needs more tyre on the front from what perspective....
If you go 18 and 17 the actual sidewall height is roughly the same given you go 27" on back and 26" on front to give the staggered look.

If you look at my sig pic - thats the 18's I had on front and rear with same size tires front and rear (245/45/18). When I said needs more tire - I meant that on the front the 18 looks that little bit too much from the side view and the 17 would look better. Just my opinion.
