That is an awesome looking vette if you're wanting a custom.

If an Aussie buyer was to purchase this car good luck getting it through customs at the moment. I'd bet it wouldn't make it cause of the custom frame.

Off topic a little I heard yesterday a drag car got knocked back recently because of a old style thirty something coupe body on a modern frame, even though its a dedicated drag car and never to be registered. Insanity.

Anything thats got chassis mods you can forget it. Theres a thread on this forum somewhere discussing it a little bit, where I work there is some hotrodders that are not too happy about it all also.

Rule of thumb if the car you are looking at is stock and unmodified you should be ok, modified then I'd be asking questions on this side before you spend any money. Would not want a car stuck on the docks you cannot do anything with.

I'd be worried if you're looking at hotrods. My advice is call the govt and find out what exactly you can and cannot import since they are on a major crackdown.

Hotrods and modified vehicles are their main target.

Gday Mr L71! Forget about hotrods! Unless its an original body/chassis/wheels etc forget it! They are apparently even stopping cars with different stereo systems in them! again it has to have the correct original radio!

:wtf:

Given the detailed information and inspection required by NCRS to score a Corvette on originality, how would an Australian public servant know his arse from his elbow in that regard?

Seems to me that the seller simply has to declare that it's original.

yeah but you have to send them photos now, so if it has anything that they deem unexceptable (which could be anything, because they have no idea what is original) then you have to prove that it is original or at least original repo! UNLESS the mods were done before 1989 then your ok, but again you need proof it was done before that!:grr::grr:

eg Baldwin motion Vette has American racing mags, you have to prove the car came with them!

This is madness. I wonder what the Governments agenda is re modified cars being imported. They would still need to be engineered before they could hit the road.
Maybe they should spend more time cracking down on Porn flooding into the country.

I think you'll find it's a not very busy public servant trying to justify their job.
