78 Engine Specs

G'day, does anyone know if there were different engines fitted to the 78 Indy Pace car model? I have seen a few pix of various examples, some seem to have   smooth blue painted rocker covers, others have what looks like alloy wrinkle finish ones - would the latter be just after-market rocker covers or an indication of a totally different engine build? I have heard it said that the latter is an indication of a Mexican built & assembled 350 - appreciate your advice.

Same 350.  Not sure about the engine dress ups though.

78 Pace Cars should have L82 engine; option for non-pace car models [excluding Caliifornia cars] and I am led to believe were fitted with alloy rocker covers. From the outside the obvious difference was dual snorkel hoses to the air cleaner. My understanding is all '78 model engines were blue. The L48 had painted rockers, the L82 the alloy. A Pace Car with blue covers is probably a copy??
