ugly or not it is a original "motion" car. If you read up about motion you may be suprised how important he was in car customising in many GM cars, and our forum should mabye be a bit more understanding to people who like this type of car, which is basically a Corvette under those Datsun lights.

Im pretty sure everyone on this forum either owns a vette of some type or wants one.

Lets save the payouts for volvo's and vee dubs hey......

Yep, and I'd wager most of us like or want them for their original American styling, not some Japanised version.

i don't mind the mantaray type rear window and the headlight conversion on the red and white vette with the covers has an early ferrari look i think which i like better than the twin rectangular kits i've seen.

Those Motion Performance Corvettes by Joel Rossen & Marty Schorr (I think that's how their names are spelt) often bring large bids at those celebrity car auctions like Barrett Jackson.

IIRC, Motion Performance also customised Camaro's and other GM cars. FWIW a 69 Motion Performance L88 went over the auction block at BJ or Mecum a couple of years ago and sold for $185000US.

Beauty as always is in the eye of the beholder:x

Now that's a nice looking beast.

So enlighten me Mick.  What makes it a motion?  Is it just the fact that its been modified by a certain company?

Baldwin-Motion is a popular name because it represents some potent dealer built supercars from the American muscle car era. In their day, companies such as Baldwin-Motion, Yenko and Shleby, were pushing the envelope far beyond where the major manufacturers were willing to go. Not many other companies even attempted a twin turbocharged 454, Baldwin-Motion did.

Joel Rosen was the defining personality of Motion Performance Products which were sold through Baldwin Chevrolet of Long Island. His engine of choice was the L-88 which he installed in several Camaros, Corvettes and Chevelles. What separated Motion Products from its competitors, was not only a guaranteed 1/4 mile time, but radical styling packages which usually included distinctive stripes.

In 1969, Joel stripped down several big block Corvettes to create his Corvette Phase III GT. The Phase III Corvette received a comprehensive tuning program which more than doubled the cost of the base model. For reasons unknown to me, Phase I or Phase II were never offered.

Easily identified by their fixed headlights, only ten of these were lightweight vettes were made, and no two are identical. Custom exterior features included: recessed headlights, functional hood scoops, custom side louvers, slanted rear windows, Dodge fuel fillers, slit taillights, motion traction bars, custom side mirrors and flared wheel wells

They were bad ass cars! Basically Joel Rosen guarenteed that the cars he built would do the 1/4 in about 11 secs!!! Remember this is back in 69 when 14-15sec was considered very fast! Most of the Big Block Vettes and Camaros had 500-600hp. Also take note in Australia our biggest horsepower cars were only 230hp!!One of our members is secretly making a Motion look a like! Watch out!

This is a real warranty!!!!

All Baldwin-Motion sales promotion materials carried Rosen's guaranty. “We think so much of our Phase III Supercars that we guaranty they will turn at least 120 mph in 11.50 seconds or better with an M/P-approved driver on an AHRA or NHRA-sanctioned drag strip. Phase III Supercars are completely streetable, reliable machines that will run these times off the street.” There never was a single comeback!
