The C3 Shark Tank
« on: February 01, 2008, 10:08:36 PM »
Scott from the C3 Shark Tank has had an extended tour of Iraq and has been unable to fully maintain this web site. It looks like unless a person or group of enthusiasts would like to take it on it will shut down at the end of the current hosting agreement.
Many of us at this forum have been visitors and enjoyed the content from C3 Shark Tank.
Some very much more; Brutus, 69DirtyRat?
If anyone is interested contact Scott via the link at C3SharkTank.com
I'm flat out posting this! Second attempt when I left to confirm web address!

What is really involved, do you have any idea how much time do you need a week to look after it?

I have no idea. Scott says he has been able to keep it going with minimal input but that it is not really up to date. So I assume keeping it up to date is the thing.
Cam must know what keeping a web site up and up to date is in terms of time?
Cam? Cam? Are you there?

Hi boys.

You get out what ya put in.  I would spend a few hours each night trawling other sites for information to store for when the forum gets quiet, as well as inforamtion and stories for the ckub magazine.  A website is nothing but an electronic magazine.  Question is it a monthly or weekly if ya catch my drift.  As far as running the site it's nothing really once it's set up.  Bar when you get server crashes......GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

But if you want to keep it fresh, especially a website, as distinct from a forum who's members keep it bumping along, then you got to go digging for the information.  This is what takes the time.  I have been known to do a trawl on a topic that I thought may be interesting and come up blank after a whole night. If a public website is not updated on a regular basis it goes stale.

Once you have the information then you have to upload it onto to your server, rather than just linking, so you don't loose it when other sites go down.

Some good editing and picture software, good connection speed, a fastish computer and an FTP program for uploading.

This one here is enough for me but If I can offer any assistance please do not hesitate to call.
