Steve got a call on Friday night around 10:00pm that the Z06 was miss firing, at 200kph, and what could we do about it. There were questions about the tune and whether this was the source of the problem.
Next morning Steve and I made a trip up to Bathurst to diagnose the Z06. We did some scanning and the car would open and close the electronic throttle and vary the timing which would effectively govern the speed. On the dyno the car repeatedly pulled 150mph without a hitch but on the race track it was a different story.
We tried a few things and eventually went back to the standard tune. The miss firing was still there!
Next was to check the ignition and the left bank was starting to miss at idle. An ignition pack (4) for the left bank, courtesy from a Monaro, was tried and the Z06 was pulling 165mph down Conrod, up from 130mph and turning laps in the 2m 46s region.
The owner was happy and we called it a day.
BTW: a great day of super sprint racing and good to see Bathurst having another event. see

Cheers, Joe
