Hello Guys & Gals,

Can anyone advise me whether there is anyone in Australia that has a RAWS approval to do a 96 vette conversion. ?

I havent decided which way to go yet, but am looking at C4's at the moment.

Thank you

As far as i know NO one has RAWS for C4's.
Thats why people are buying pre 89 C4 corvettes as they dont have to go through RAWS.

The only way to get a late model C4 converted and registered is if its a personal import. Must have owned and used the vehicle overseas for 12 months or more to be elegeble to fall under this category.

Its far easier just to buy a good one already here that is already registered and converted.

Also, there is a database of Registered Automotive Workshops(RAWs) on the DOTARS web site at:

http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RAWPubSearch.asp#results

1. Search for "CHEVROLET" & "CORVETTE"
2. Click the RAW's "PIN" to display the contact details of the RAW
3. On the RAW Details page, Click "RAWS SCHEDULE" to display the vehicles they are authorised to compliance.

But sadly, no C4.

Yeahh, i was hoping that there might be someone here in Aus to do the conversion.... then again, i could go and live inthe states for a year!...hehehe.

Its going to be hard to find a white 95 or 96 with LT4 specs...

Still not decided about C4 (as above) or C5, in white colour and also got to be a coupe with black interior.

A ZR1 wouldnt be bad either...;46... ;49

Which ever way, its going to be blown ;29 So look out RAT PAC! , but untill then i will go away and play with the mices!

Thankyou again..

Hello Daniel42au,

Thank you also for your information and assistance with the topic.

It looks like  big headache in the making.

I think its probably easier buying a registered vehicle here in Australia.

Cheers and see you soon :x

I thought you had your heart set on a C5. A 95 or96 LT4 although a great car are priced up there almost in C5 territory. You might as well get a C5 as it's a better car overall anyway.
I'm sure that there are raws workshops for C5s so you could still pick one from the U.S if you so wished.;42

Hello MadVet,

Oh... not yet sure which way to go, though im looking at all options, though i reckon a C4 would be alot easier to work on as well.

Have to sell my 69 first anyway...:23

Thanks
