Pacemaker extractors

Anyone have any opinions or alternatives if the pacemakers are sh#t?


I have a 76 with a small block and a mirror conversion.

Depending on which steering box used you will be VERY short of space on the rh side of the engine...most used the ford box which is quite large...you might also consider putting in a mini starter as the heat will kill you and it.By the time you have finished rooting around trying to fit anything you buy,it will be probably easier and cheaper to have a set made.....make sure you also consider any later head upgrades as to angle or straight plugs and design accordingly.....you might also need to put a heat shield over the rag joint.....it will get very hot there..john;28

I had some done a few years ago for $240, but I can't remember if it was Jet Hot or their opposition.

could also try hooker headers....seen a 77 in s.a. with them.fitted nice.

Just a warning though...I would test fit first in case you have to make any adjustments then jet coat because it will crack the coating if you bend or dent it afterwoods!

I have a set of short headers that I was told came from Ecklers in the US that are made for RH drive. The front pipe on the RH side goes over the steering box and they clear everything nicely. Don't know how well they work as my car is not on the road yet but they are large primary and 2.5 inch collectors.I will send you a photo if you give me an e-mail address.I have power steer box and have good clearance with them.

I have mine with the jet coating and it doesn't really reduce the heat that much....lots of power = lots of heat....john;35

You can also try the block hugger type.

I had a full exhaust made, coated, for around $1900.  The coating does make a difference in heat but as John said, it gets hot under there anyway! Every bit helps.

I bought a set of Hooker headers for mine about ten years ago so it was before any RHD ones were available. Although for a C4 i ended up having to modify one of the pipes on the right hand side. I figured it would be lot easier to do that than building a set from scratch.
I also have a set of the block hugger type on my project Camaro. These are great for ground clearance because you only end up with one pipe tucked up under the car on each side rather than a collection of pipes which end up hanging down low.;42

Went in to get my headers fitted today, bad news was they won't fit. They looked nice, but: not gonna happen.

Looks like I'll be getting them made.

When I was at the local exhaust joint (best in town) and he was calling the reps looking for the best headers for me one of them suggested block huggers, his words were "yucky poo". I asked him why and he said "they're sh#t, trust me, you don't want them"

I have to trust the guy, he knows his stuff.

You want equal length headers, those block huggers would work only slightly better than stock! You could always return your vette back to LHD then get headers cheap from the US! Back when my vette was red I bought some equal length Hedman Headers from summit racing for about $300 landed! (back when the $ was $0.50c) They were fantastic! That leaves $1600 for a conversion back!!!

Thanks for the pics... since the pacemakers are not going to fit it looks like I'll have to get some made.
