Hi i have a 75 LHD

This may seem like a no brainer but has anyone got a suggestion as to how I can get the four f$&% bolts holding the brake booster in place (under the dash) out without pulling the whole dash out.  I have determined that they are 9/16th but I can't get an open-ender in there, I can't get a rathchet in there either. I'm no mechanic so please excuse the dumb question but after six hours laying under there trying I am getting close to giving up.;38

I just did this, however my dash was out, but if you use an "elbow" at the socket end it should be fine.

Use a socket with an elbow attached and a long extension.  I used air tools as the nuts were on tight due to a little rust.  Spraying WD40 before taking them off helps.

Use a couple of extensions to give yourself enough room if that allows you to clear the dash.  You may need to remove the small section that has the vacuum over ride switch.

I found lots of swearing helped too!  ;-)

I'll give that a try. I just checked the same issue on a US corvette forum and found I am not alone. Seems the elbow is the trick.

you may not have to remove the dash,just remove the A pillars and unscrew all the srews along the top of the dash and remove the top crash pad?

Been here and done this with DASH PAD INSTALLED

Step one:-  You need the right tools.  Forget the 1/2" drive here.  You will need a 3/8" socket drive.

1 9/16" DEEP socket
1  ratchet
1  universal
1 VERY long extansion bar

If ya cant remove it all in 1/2 an hour then there is some major wrong with how your boosater is fitted.  Possibley butchers have been at it.  Being a left hook (original) you should have no problems.

A 3/8 drive would make some extra room.  Even with air tools it was an effort to get the nuts off!

I'll buy myself a universal today and give it a try.  Thanks for the advice.

BTW I reinstalled my original Delco AM/FM stereo today and was expecting it to sound crappy, especially as the 75s only have the front speakers and mine are original. Actually, all things considered, the radio doesn't sound too bad. It's not going to damage anyone's ears but the sound it strong and the reception is better than the high-end system I replaced.

i agree...it happened to me and we had to disconnect the radio , did it with Cameron. It will make a difference if you disconect it
