Could it be as easy as a vacuum hose come off or a faulty/damaged  headlight actuator????

Yeah, good point 69DR.  Does his head light come up?  If it does not it's a vacuum hose.

If it does come up but does not light, try these pics.  They are for my 77 but they may help.

Keep us posted.

If ya click on the circuit diagram picture, a larger size one will open in a new window.

The circuit breaker is on the fuse box in a 77.  Read the above and it may help.

The lights will blink on and off if it's a short.  If they don't come on at all, possibley the connector has been bumped off the light, unlikely, or the earth has been broken off the chassis when the hose was changed.

Some vettes also have a micro switch on the headlight mech that does not let the lights come on if they are down.  This may have been damaged as well.

But I'm going for a broken earth.

Hi nifty ;42

Often when headlights operate in the vacuum circuit but do not luninate and the fuse is OK it is the headlight dip switch that has failed;38
Dip switchs on pre 1977 are located on the floor
Dip switches on 1977 are located inside the steering column
Dip switches on 1978-82 are located at the lower end of the steering column on the left side just below the ignition switch
I have the dip switches in stock if this is the problem:luv
The wiring loom does have a circuit breaker which is on the firewall (self setting)
There are two fuseable links in the wiring loom as well but they supply everything so if everything else is working then they have not blown.
Hope this helps;28

You might want to start talking about the new radiator over heating problem in that section.

I can move your radiator post over to ya new thread if ya start one in the appropriate section.

yes please cam.
just a note of interest...through this forum,he was able to fix his problem.....saving around $50 in the process by not going to a pro.....i think there the pros could learn a few things from this forum.like the time i had a voltage regulator blow...the dude? changed it 5 times with me standing next to him before he worked out the real problem...then he tried to charge ME for 5 regs at $85 bucks apiece.and he got a bit upset when i told him off.

Glad we could help.  Thought it would be the earth.

Just start a thread in the radiator section.  Just put one or two words in it and I'll then cut a paste you posts from here to there.

Actually Nifty don't worry about that.  I have split the thread and moved the radiator bits to the radiator section.
