This is an 8.1ltr donk living in a Z06 known only as Jim's ... ;-)

It could be dressed a little more to make it pretty but one things for sure .. it's BIIIIGGG!!

How would you go if you wanted to upgrade your coil(s) in one of those things? That's gotta inflict some nasty pain in the wallet region for sure.;eek

Any info on what block he used?  I am presuming the motor came from something older than the car it went into or it came from a truck.

C5 and even C5R blocks can't be taken out that far to my knowledge.

Diagnosing an ignition problem could be more fun than normal too. ;eek  Not that I'd turn down a C5 if one was offered to me. :)

Apparently, the 8.1L translates to a 496CID engine. Its the truck engine that is
used in the 3/4T truck lines.

She puts out 340Hp and 475FT/Lbs of torque which I thought was a little low actually. There's also a marine verson that's rated at 375hp.

I dare say that this would very well be the ONLY huge block C5 around.

Things have changed a little now.  I pasted the address of 77CVT's link into a new window and got the pic.

BTW, when I couldn't get it yesterday I checked the links properties and had a pretty good idea of what it would have been.  Turns out I was right.  :22

Thanks for the info.

Assuming all that info is spot on and the car in question is a Z06, the car has dropped a minimum of 45hp but picked up about 90 FT/LB of torque (based on a 2001 (first year) Z06).

I admire and respect the work and ingenuity with the swap but if it were my car I would have played with some bolt ons or done the heads and cam.  Then again, it's not my car.  Just my opinion.

Definitely wins bragging rights though, I bet he's got the biggest cubed C5 on his block.  ;35

VO.....GREG  morris  from  corvette  conversion  has  done  the  sums,  the  measurements  and  knows  the  right  500cube  motor  and  harness  that  will  fit  in a  C4............now  that'd  be  a  REAL  GUTTER  SLAPPER  LOL  :);)

VO, the authenticity is looking a little dubious now as why would anyone want to drop 45 horses ? Perhaps it wasn't a Z06. Whilst on the subject of dropping power like this, I noticed in the current Unique Cars a Victorian vette for sale that reads "used to be a big block now a 350cid" .... I'm not being critical but why would anyone want to change a big block 4 speed to a small block 4 speed ?
