engine & chassis numbers?

(1/3) > >>

ozdood:
I've just recieved my 77 corvette and im having troubles getting rego because nobody can find the engine and chassis numbers, can somebody tell me where they might be please?

Adam:
Chassis no. is left pillar, just look through the windscreen.

I had some probs with mine (1980) coz they could not find a complience plate- however upon investigation I found out through the RTA that I did not need one- somthing about age and when it was imported- I forget the details now but Ive printed out the rules at the time so i can easily look them up if you need them.

ozdood:
ahhh your a champ, i found the chassis #
still need to find the engine # tho, its a small block

Cameron 77C3:
In front of the head on the drivers side, if right hand drive, there is a small metal pad casting of the block that sticks out past the head with the engine number stamped in it.  you might need to clean any grease off.

Inside the passanger side door pillar, if right hand drive, With the door open you should find a metal plate riveted to the pillar.  There will be series of numbers and letters.  These refer to the month the car is manufactured, colour, etc.  They use letters to define the months, not numbers.

Let us know the numbers and letters and we can let you know what it all means.

Any pictures?

Let us know how you go.

77CVT:
If the block has been decked you may not have any numbers!
