AGM count down.
last year there was some conjecture of the right to vote at the AGM while not being a paid-up member.
As Fee`s are due  as of the 30/6/19  that is last week , any  member or group of members, not paid-up by the time of the AGM has absolutely no right to think they should be able to VOTE on any motion  at any meeting including the AGM meeting of the CLUB.
I believe those whom were of that opinion, take the constitution as written out of context for their own reasoning.
We need to have this sorted my a majority vote  well before this year’s AGM as we DO NOT need nor want any of the ambiguity that plagued the club  last year.

Are the back room conversations going to be a factor in this year’s AGM.
Rumours emerging from this month’s meeting are inferring this may be the case.

Non committee personal apparently putting themselves between our club officials and professionals service personnel,   caring out commissioned statutory work on the club’s behalf.
This apparently is an ongoing phenomenon that  again has  the potential to bring about  division within the club.

The AGM in normally the October meeting , last year there was some talk of moving the meeting date.
I was not sure  if there had been a change, when  I read your message.

The musical chairs situation with the committee this year did not make it easy to keep track of all the events surrounding the AGM and the following months.

Now however  under Ray Smith's Stewardship   the club has steadied, and  now is starting to show the results of his and his committee's efforts.

Not a great deal of news in relation to our AGM this last week.

VPR has confirmed the date, now all those interested parties, whom wish to help  extend the work Ray Smith and crew have done this year, then you need to put their hand up.

Whoops did I hear the sound on the multitude logging out, the leave it to someone else does not work people.

If you have ideas and the drive to make them reality, let hear from you.

:omg: Well said Bfit.  I have been to most meeting this year and experienced first hand the carry on and complaints from a small section of members. Ray, Doug and Belinda have done a great job and their efforts are starting to see rewards.

For those who wish to complain, now it is your chance to put your efforts forward and be part of the club we all want to enjoy. Get yourself on the committee and help those already there in giving the rest of us the great events we look forward to.

Two weeks and no new rumours, re AGM.  I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.

If you have heard  a good rumour or are prepared to start a rumour let me know , or post here .
But you must Be able of  substantiating the info in your post.
As it’s been said ‘’ your words only reflect on you’’ .

The AGM in normally the October meeting , last year there was some talk of moving the meeting date.

It would make sense to move the AGM closer to the end of the membership year, as is the usual practice with clubs, etc.

When the new constitution is implemented there will be some standardising of Issuse such as this.

Two weeks to the next general meeting, there is going to be some business to take care of before the AGM,
So, we do not have the BS the was the result of last year’s AGM, that has resulted on considerable disruption within the club.

I`m not on the club Facebook page and do not know the requirements to be accepted but people posting negative information, is not good for anyone.
I understand this is happening with persons pushing their own agenda.

My view is. if person don't want to support our club, they should go elsewhere.

Just as well our club as yet don’t have rules such as the HSV club does, they rightly frown on anyone bring their club in to disrepute.
We need to bring forward those discussions at the next general meeting

here is what I believe are the relevant clauses .

8. Fees, subscriptions, etc.:
8.1. A member of the association shall, upon admission to membership, pay to the association a fee of $1 or, where some other amount is determined by the committee, of that other amount.
8.2. In addition to any amount payable by the member under clause 8.1, a member of the association shall pay to the association an annual membership fee of $2 or, where some other amount is determined by the committee, of that other amount –

(a) except as provided by paragraph (b), before 1st July in each calendar year; or
(b) where the member becomes a member on or after 1st July in any calendar year – upon becoming a member and before 1st July in each succeeding calendar year.

9. Members’ liabilities:
9.1. The liability of a member of the association to contribute towards payment of the debts and liabilities of the association or the costs, charges and expenses of the winding up of the association is limited to the amount, if any, unpaid by the member in respect of membership of the association as required by rule 8.

10. Disciplining of members:
10.1. Where the committee is of the opinion that a member of the association –

(a) has persistently refused or neglected to comply with a provision or provisions of these rules; or
(b) has persistently and wilfully acted in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the association,
the committee may, by resolution –
(c) expel the member from the association; or
(d) suspend the member from membership of the association for a specified period.

31. Voting:
31.1. Upon any question arising at a general meeting of the association a member has one vote only.
31.2. All votes shall be given personally or by proxy but no member may hold more than 5 proxies.
31.3. In the case of an equality of votes on a question at a general meeting, the chairperson of the meeting is entitled to a second or casting vote.
31.4. A member or proxy is not entitled to vote at any general meeting of the association unless all money due and payable by the member or proxy to the association has been paid, other than the amount of the annual subscription payable in respect of the then current year.

32. Appointment of proxies: 32.1. Each member shall be entitled to appoint another member as proxy by notice given to the secretary no later than 24 hours before the time of the meeting in respect of which the proxy is appointed.
32.2. The notice appointing the proxy shall be in the form set out in Appendix 2 to these rules.
