Re-skinning a 79 Dash
« on: April 12, 2019, 11:51:16 AM »
Are there any recommendations for someone in around Sydney to re-skin a RHD 79 Dash?

Thanks, Alan

There is a dash repairer in McGraths Hill near Windsor that can recondition the dash up like new. He does a vacuum system that comes up like original.
Google it.

Hi Rosco, re "dash repairer in McGraths Hill near Windsor", I could only find Dashboard Recovery services which is now at Arundell park (I think they used to be at Mulgrave)  .. is that who you were thinking of? Has anyone used them and what was there experience?

Hi Bfit, Steve B passed on contact details for a member that has used the Dashboard Doctor in Melbourne. I've sent a message to try and connect

Thanks, ALan

I have seen his work first hand and it look spot on. Not sure where you are going with this there are other options recover at a trimmer or get a Retro out from the states.
What do you mean on the time frame is he busy and it takes some time to get to you or he just takes his time.
His work is original in appearance.

he was one of the recommendations I got from another trimmer with advice that he can take a while. I am interested in talking to other people about what their experiences has been, I'm asking the same questions about the Dasboard Doctor in Melbourne. Don't mind quality work taking time but do like to know what i'm getting myself into so I have the right expectation.

hi Geoff,

I'll try and take some photos, if they don't come out I'll show it next time we connect. Hoping to get to the CMC day this year!

Just need to get the new carpet trimmed and the remaining trip parts re-sprayed to match the dash. My t-top centre panel is stuffed so I need to sort that as well.

Best, Alan

Who did your powder coating? The only mob I've tried wanted $100 to begin.

Hi Alan, there is a motor trimmer, Jason Beerins,  coming to our August meeting I have just rang him and left a message regarding your enquiry, Jason does a top job, he also does home upholstery and does excellent work.

hi Ray,

Brilliant suggestion, as I don't think the repro versions are as good as the originals. Since my last post I've put in the new door cards and had the new carpet trimmed. Pretty pleased with the result. If your at the Show and shine next weekend, I can show you .. just need to get the wheel back on :)

Best, Alan
