Historic (club) rego to full NSW road rego.
« on: March 16, 2018, 04:30:09 PM »
Does anyone know how hard it is to change a car from HR to full road rego in NSW?
Is it a matter of needing a blue slip?

My nineteen year old has his eye on a C4 on club rego and asked how hard is it to change because he wants to sell his VE com and get the C4 as a daily driver.

Thanks in advance for advice.

Yes get a blue slip and follow the normal proceedure.

You may need to get the car weighted but that should have been done when it went on to HR plates

Just be careful that is not left hand drive and can not be fully registered in this state.

If it’s on historic rego . LHD won’t be a problem

First has the car been on full rego previously? If so RMS should have some detail of car ie engineers report. Should be blue slip & weighbridgeticket.
If a new LHD rego from historic you will need engineers report, weighbridge ticket, blue slip, green slip, Id, money to get you over the line. Did it when I sold my 79 with rego

When was the c4 built? It must be over 30 years of age if LHD. Otherwise under30 years of age, it must be RHD. Being on club rego doesn’t automatically allow full rego in NSW.

There are cars registered in Victoria that will never be allowed to be registered in NSW.

If unsure that you are able to get rego in NSW, get the full details off the car you are interested in (VIN, engine number together with the current rego details). Then contact the Vehicle Technical Unit of RMS at Parramatta and they will advise you what you will need to do.

I recently purchased a c3 in QLD on full rego and drove it back to NSW. To put it on club rego, I only needed Blue slip, rego details from QLD and some paperwork from NSW corvettes. The rest was easy. Good luck, the guys at RMS are your best guide and will give you the right advice.

Thanks for your input everyone.
The C4 he was looking at got sold. So now he’s looking again.

Just on an aside, I thought all LHD’s were allowable in NSW. My ‘74 roadster is LHD on full, unrestricted NSW rego.

No not all Lhd’s
It has to be pre 1989 and, thirty years old .
Ie a 1989 model will not be eligible until next year. To be registered LHD
