C4 87 Fuel issues.

Engine runs rough to begin, seems to go away after 10 mins running, supect water in fuel. Ordered a square "Goss" look a like fuel pump, does petrol, can suck up, and is ok if run dry. Made up ali pipes and hose etc, today pumped 6 - 8 litres out, this is 98 fuel and is bright yellow, but not a drop of water though. QUESTION: is 98 yellow (BP). After using my setup, I will rewire with a switch for safety, but if anyone needs a loan, please ask.

Camo. I had to send convention mail there on the weekend from "B's", recd ok and printed ok. When Tahlia gets home, she will show me how to get into it and I'll let you know. And before you say it, they have shown me but as per usual they go at 900 miles an hour, far too fast for my poor old grey cells which only work at analog pace.

As of September 2015 all dye will be removed from fuel.
So E10 will be the same as 98 which was never dyed (yellow)
It is expected to take 12 months to get this all done, so you may still see some reddish orange E10 and unleaded still around.

Yes right on Rosco, I just read the same article. All fuel clear to light yellowish. But the fuel I just pumped is a lovely lemon yellow, anyway I didnt waste it - I frew it in the Falcon.

Hey Vettech what a great way to dispose of poor quality fuel and it couldnt possibly harm the perfomance caracteristics of a FORD . Lol

I know you said poor quality, but it was 98 from the servo at Bella Vista (sunday), brand I cant remember, and all previous fuel has been 98 out of the BP/macdonalds on Cowpasteur Rd at Cecil Hills. One thing I have noticed of late is when I open the fuel cap, which I do slowly, I get great amount of schussing, either air in or pressure out. But I open the Falcon sitting right next to it and there is NO pressure at all. Of course one may seal better than the other. I wonder, cold night, partial vac in tank, start up, pump labours against vac, engine misses and farts around, turn a few corners, fuel sloshes, gives off vapour and voids the partial vac. QUESTION: Are fuel caps /tanks supposed to hold pressure or vac in the tank. I thought the cap was suppossed to vent to atmosphere, and that charcoal canister thingy was supposed to suck all vapours out of the tank ????.

Cap should seal. Vent is through canister. Put a gauge on the fuel rail. Should come up to 35 - 3 psi at ignition on and stay stable while running. I've got the right gage if you need one.

Thanks Sabre. As we saw when I visited, the Fuel pressure is ˜30psi, which is down on recommended. I'll do some more testing, but not before we go up to Nelson Bay. I loved your house and its surroundings - veeeery nice.
