Hi,
I newly joined the Corvette Club here in NSW. I Bought my vet 10 years ago in California. It's a 1966 convertible. I moved to Australia in September and finally got my corvette off the boat 10 days ago. In order to get ready for registration, I had a mechanic take a look at the car. He noted 2 issues. The first issue is that the hand break light on the dashboard does not come on when the handbrake is set. This could be as simple as having to change a light bulb or more. Also, the windshield wipers do not work. I never had to use them. It does not rain in California in the summer! :shades: this problem could be as simple as a loose wire or the whole unit has to be switched out. Incidentally, I wanted to install an ignition security lock. Not sure what us available here.

For all these issues, I need a mechanic who knows about electrical issues on a car. I was hoping that someone could recommend such a mechanic/car electrician if possible in or close to Sutherland Shire.

Thank you for any help.
Bernie

Yes Sirfixalot is in "The Shire". The wipers must operate for rego in NSW. And he is pretty handie on electrical. You might like to talk to him re: seat belts. I believe US pattern belts my not comply in NSW, and he specialises in belts/restraints. I recently got a set off him and its amazing how different they are, I should have done it years ago. Wellcome to Oz.

You didn't mention if your mechanic does blue slips but you'll need one for registration; you'll need to change the headlights; they have to dip to the left; instead of the right.

For a blue slip inspection you can contact Chris at SMS Bankstown; he may also be able to arrange the headlights. Details below.

Be sure to start a build thread with plenty of pics; I love the mid-years.

they have to dip to the left; instead of the right; when you hit the high beams.

Yep, the low beam has to dip to the left.

Sirfixalot should be able to  sort you out on the electrical issues.

Welcome to Oz. Hope to see you on a Club run.
It's C3 chromie for me, see? Si!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Very helpful! Especially the tip bout the headlights. Can this be adjusted or does the unit need to be replaced?

Also, where is the best store to source corvette parts? I heard about Eagle Auto Parts. Any other good choices?

Bernie read your private messages. Headlights will need to be replaced about $15 each

I'd be spending more that $15 though to get some decent ones, rather than the cheapest of cheap.  You'll never be happy with them if you drive at night.
