Australias Best Modified - Lingenfelter 1990 C4 Blue Corvette
« on: September 19, 2014, 09:11:20 AM »
It’s with great regret, that I have now decided to sell this car, to purchase a C6 Z06 Corvette.

Originally I was going to buy a C6, but didn't go through with it, as I came across this beauty whilst in my search for a Corvette to get back into the club. However, after some soul searching, I have decided to go with my initial gut feeling.

Here is the advertisement with many many more pics of my car on carsales for those genuinely interested in buying and driving a C4 Corvette

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Chevrolet-Corvette-1990/SSE-AD-3017769/?Cr=8

Here is a few videos that I have uploaded to Youtube with the car for viewing:

Briefly a little history about this car and its past:

This car was meticulously converted by John Bondock as his personal car, and then modified extensively by Raymond Doyle in 2004.  The car has literally only travels approx 3815km or there about in the last 10 years.

Everything has either been repaired, rebuilt, restored or replaced.  This car is literally a brand new car from top to bottom, everything has been done .  This is a multi award winning show car, which comes with a boot load of trophies that has taken out every Grand National Concourse since 1998.

The car has also been featured in the biggest Corvette magazine in the USA as best C4 in Australia and is Australian complianced and L02 Queensland compliance as well and is fully registered with NSW plates.

For those who may be interested, some of the modifications include:

Engine block bored & honed V8 T/Plate Machined to 383 & fully balanced (Jack Bros Racing Queensland)
Engine Fully Blueprinted & Balanced
Compression ration 10.9:1
Dart Pro Heads , Intake 200cc Runners, Exhaust 1.60cc Valves S/S
Comp Cam – Hydraulic Roller, CS-286H – R10 Lift 600 +600.230 x 230 Duration @ 50
Competition Cam Roller Rocker Arms 1.6 / Competition Cam Magnum Rollers
Trend Double Taper Chrome Molly Pushrods
Keith Black Race Pistons 7cc / Chrome Molly Rings (Sealed power & Hand Filed)
Scat Forged Steel 4340 Crankshaft
I Beam Forged Steel 4340 Scat Rods
Dui High Performance Distributor 65,000 Volts
TPI – Big Mouth Intake Manifold Matched Ported
Lingenfelter Super Ram, Polished & Match Ported Fuel injection Intake System
58MM – Accel Billet (Modified) Throttle Body with modified throttle position sensor
Bosch 24Lb Fuel Injectors
Romak Harmonic Balancer 400  7” Diam / Merlin High Volume Oil Pump
Rollmaster Twin Timing Chain Kit
AC Delco 160 Degree Thermostat
Adjustable Fuel Regulator / Modified Engine Management System (Modified Chip)
Modified R700 Trans with 3000Rpm stall converter to handle 1000HP
Custom made CES Racing exhaust system (Extractors & HPS Coated)
Upgraded Z06 modified C5 Brake front Brakes with Hawk Ceramic Pads all round
$3700 in Stainless Steel screw fixtures and fittings throughout car
All bushes & bearings including rubbers replaced to underside
1993 Corvette Saw Blade Chrome Rims
Fully repainted inside and out in Glazurite Paint which took over a year to accomplish

Ok, im asking $65K (negotiable) for the car as is with NSW plates and a few accessories.

Now whilst this may seem a lot of money($) for a C4, this car cannot be reproduced or even built for anywhere near that price. A paintjob like this one would cost over $50K alone today to be done right.  The car also comes with a boot full of trophies and all paperwork accumulated over the period of my ownership.

Cheers Michael

It ain't sold yet. . I have a very keen person in Vic who is interested in the vehicle and has placed a small deposit by EFT into my account to hold it for 2 weeks, as he needs to organize details, money and flight up. . its still for sale so its anyones guess. .I have had sh#t load offers at $45k, but not interested.

Fingers crossed, unless a mystery buyer with the full cash appears😀

Hello Jethro,

What can i say, its been one of those weeks... i missed out on the silver 2011 supercharged Trofello Corvette in Melbourne by a few weeks, however ended up selling my audi tts in two weeks. That also went to Melbourne.

I had a holding deposit for two weeks some time back, and a few weeks ago a young & very enthusiastic guy came up from Vic to have a look at it... the vette, well he loved the car, however needed an ok from a broker to finance $40K of the price agreed after some two-ing and fro-ing (if theres such a word).

Eventually, with an agreed price, the broker wasn't going to lend him the money on such an old car, that he thought was a risk, and if the guy didnt pay, felt that he couldn't get his money back.

The other matter was that the price was agreed on the basis that it was going to cost him an additional few thousand to shipping it down, and put some tryes on it.. Tho they're not necessary, but would be superficial.

So, i have sold the audi, and have some money aside and placed a holding deposit on a convertible corvette... won't say yet, and where it is, but will if i do sell my car.. if not, i will hold onto the car.

Its been a interesting time in my life, with all acclaimed experts coming out of the woodworks offering what they think the car is worth, without even having sited it... Hmm.... my reply... if i had a dollar for every time someone offered me $45K, i would be rich!..

We will keep you posted... for now, its out on the market, and open to cash offers over 50K... Im hoping this will help in the purchase of the next car.

M

MY081,  i would really like to put the bucks down, but then i would be in a position where i would have two vettes in my possession and still waiting on selling the other.. i prefer to have all the money in the bank, and then do the deals...

If i had bought a C6, then i would be obliged to just let the C4 go for nothing. As i don't need to, i would prefer to wait it out... Its crazy people rather make an offer, without even checking the car out... goes to show, that they're not really interested, just tyre kicking!

Unfortunately, selling a Corvette, is more of a specialised market for enthusiasts, and not one where cars sell readily. Theyre luxuries and toys.

Where as my other car, I sold that in two weeks unseen to a guy in Melb!.. that was a daily driver, and the market  is a larger pool there.

Patience as they say.. I keep telling wanna be corvette owners, no one in the club, would let they're car go for a ridiculous price, so why should I?

Cheers MY081

Is the uk market an option
They have RHD
Their old cars seem to suffer badly from rust which is not the issue here
The exchange rate from aud to uk seems better
Should you advertise there to increase the pool?
Your car is not your average offering

Hey Lefty,

Its a good thought mate, but naaaa I dont think its worth it from anyone purchasing an aussie converted corvette from here, and then shipping to their country.. plus Europe is in a mess financially... and England ain't far behind.

Unfortunately, corvettes are not for everyone, due to finances. For those who have a spare $45K... well there are other vettes in their price range that they can choose!

Its like my mate use to say, there is mechanics, and there is mechanics.. their all not the same, and it goes likewise with vettes, and many experienced and seasoned owners can attest to that logic.

Thats why in all years from C2, C3 C4... prices range from near nothing to unbelievable and crazy prices (pending on condition, rarity, and how much is been invested on them.

Cheers.
