I read recently that there are more that twice that many claimed L88 in the US alone never mind the ones else where in the world.
there were some 200 69 model L88 vehicle

Yes, there are more L88s and L89s and L71s officially certified by NCRS than were ever produced.
But only 2 of these were ever built.

Mmm I see where your going
How ever what mates a low optioned production vehicles rare
Unpopular optioned vehicles at the time of production does not amount to rare
They are production bodies vehicles With optionsnotvaken up by the general population
Is that enought to make then worth more that any other vette of that same vintage

In the before mentioned examples, if auction results are anything to go by, then I would say yes.
Put it this way
No one would pay more for a base engine, green car, with a red interior and luggage rack, just because its rare.
Rarity means nothing, if the options are not desirable.

Auction results
Tend to be a result based on who thinks they have the bigger appendage .
Other wise why would a normal thinking person spend the sort of money that could house a family or three
To buy a car to hide in there storage facility.
Is that criteria for what makes a rare car
A vehicle that is in storage

Some are genuine car guys (with very deep pockets) and some are just investors.
Those types of cars are pretty good investments, they defy the economy and keep going up in value.

Same goes for old European stuff, just more insane prices.
