Urethane cushions & Strut rod kit
« on: January 26, 2014, 11:50:52 AM »
Hi guys, I noticed two piles of rubber at the rear wheels the other day and no, not from the tyres.

The urethane cushions on the rear spring decided that seeing someone forgot or was too lazy to grease them, they’d had enough and fail.

So if you have urethane or rubber cushions give them a bit of grease or they might end up looking like this.

And while I was crawling around beneath the car I noticed this.

The Strut rod kit I purchase many years ago. The diff mount bracket that comes with the kit also had a small issue.

All fixed and reinforced with the help of a mate that can weld, thanks Waz.

Managed to replace the rear leaf spring and fit the monospring that had been sitting in the garage collecting dust.

What a way to spend a weekend  :grr: Now it's time for an Australia day beer while I'm fitting the wheel carrier

Never had an issue with standard cushions G , It certainly scared the crap out of me considering how I was driving the car the day before.  :drivedevil:
If the strut brace came adrift, someone would have had a repair bill.  :banghead:

Observant little critter aren’t you M

Big difference Richard, only taken it for a few short runs to make sure all is ok with a heap of grease on them cushions. Surprised the squeaking noise has gone.
But then again that could have been the Mrs

The rear is sitting up high, but I expected that even with the 8” long bolts.
C4 bolts 10” long bolts should arrive soon; it then will depend on the ground clearance.

Will see.
