as far as I know, they restrict you to the driving hours you are allowed.

I don't think your allowed to drive them at night for one.

I really have no idea, but Ive heard that you are restricted to only driving to recognised club events and have to inform the club registra person before an outing! You can drive to repair and service places too?I drive my vett to much -it would be a hassle to me,but there are plenty of guys that have club rego(Steve Busitil?).

Thanks for the link Nik.
With so many clubs around these days there should be plenty of runs available to get a certified number from should one just happen to be out on the road.:b2

Brutus, don't quote me on this but I don't know if it is that easy (or possible) to get a "pass" or run number through a club other than the one you are affiliated with.

One benefit is that rego etc is cheaper, the downside is the limitations put on when you can drive your car.  You would want to be careful about how many "tuning or repair runs" you make because I think the RTA is wise to that practice already.

Thank you gentlemen. Just another question ..... are our breakfast runs considered a club event?

Just a quick answer.. if you like total independence.. DON"T go for club rego..

If your using the car sparingly.. for mainly club OR .. ANY automotive run your club may inspire to know about then it can happen also.

WHilst national PResident of the PCCA I pushed thru a legal ammendment to the the PCCA use of club plates noting  "Any run or automotive event publised.. either in the club mag or publications available to the public and available for inspection if requested.. are deemed as club runs for the use of club plates"   This particualarly helped regional members (not all corvette owners live in the eastern & Southern Sydney Illawarra suburbs) .

.. It is FAR cheaper to register.. and FAR cheaper to insure..like generally under $200 for $20.   NRMA give a LIMITED KMs use of about 8,000km   but will enlarge that simply if requested.. ie if your attending the Corvette Nats in Perth for instance.

To use the car.. a central contactable delegate in the club records your request.. you DON"T  have to go there non stop or via a specific route.. just don't abuse the system for everybodies sake.and hang around the Cross on a Friday night doing burnouts.
Yes your Sunday Brunch would be normally classified as a club run. as would the nighttime BBQ etc... as would or could a trip to Eastern Creek Drags, or the US Nats, or the CF.owners club Sydney cruise nights... OR the Motor Show.. ..
It takes a bit to set up, & Greg Snape in the C.F.org would be fresh on the topic to help there..

.. the biggest hurdle to club plates seems to NOT come from the RTA.. but from many committee members of various clubs who seem to want to make club plated cars total CAPTIVES of their respective clubs.. and cause otherwise fair minded owners to line up for virtual inspection  and  dictate the time they can use their own cars.
Get rid of that idea and replace it with a committee who thinks... "we should use & enjoy our club plated cars AS MUCH as legally possible - creating opportunity at every POSSIBLE opportunity available."

.. hows that sound...???

Sounds ok to me. Limitations on kilometers driven isn't a concern to me unless I retire from work.:b2 My main reason for enquiring about alternative rego is the likelyhood of a car not being able to pass RTA inspection for full rego. Is there any leeway in this respect for non registerable cars to still be allowed on the street with club/historical rego?
My main problem in this area is the height of the headlights due to a custom installation. Other than that I don't think there'll be many other concerns that can't be easily overcome.
Thanks.
