C4 Wheel Alignmen & Tyre Choice
« on: December 11, 2013, 07:59:24 PM »
Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend a good place to go and do a wheel alignment for a 1990 C4 Corvette in Sydney?.... I've heard of Heasemens in Tempe, but can someone else who has had one done, and been happy recommend a person who has worked with these Corvettes?  :yap:  And that has the machines for a low Vette.

I'm sure, there aint much to them (it appears that the front wheels are toe in inwards), but would prefer to take it to a person who has worked on C4 corvettes.  :nag:

I haven't taken my vet there yet, but when I get new rubber next year, the will do the alignment and balance. They have done every car I have had, front and back for the last 25 years

They are highly recommended.

Cheers

Well, that's sorted out.. however, I'm curious as to whether anyone knows who can help us out, or sell me tires.. I'm going to replace these also next year, as i feel mine are hard, and so far searching has lead me to two different styles because of the rim sizes (ie 17 inch) and widths.

At present, I have Goodyears on the front and Dunlops on the rear..lol

I have 275x40x17 on the front and 315x35x17 on the rear.. does anyone know who deals with 17 inch tires for these cars..  and what brand as I usually insist on Michelins and they dont stock 17 inches.. ?

Cheers

Michael,

Was any of those write ups done in wet condition ???? Those back tyres would have to be lethal in the wet on you C4  :nono:

Agree may be good in the dry, and rated highly as a summer performance tyre, but prone to aquaplaning in the wet. Not recommended in cold wet conditions. Also not renowned for durability.

Thanks Guys, actually cause theyre very soft the right ups in the wet were also relatively ok, not that my car will ever see rain. Lol. . Definitely a dry tyre and only good for about 15 thou kms. . I have also looked at Kuhmo Ecsta Uk36's but very little write ups,

At the moment anything would be beta than the current tyres which are very hard. . When u can fry tryes at 85-90kms, its time to change.

Not that the serious horsepower at the rear helps. . The stroked 383 + the Litenfinger Injection Rocks .

C4S are seriously ugly in the wet with good tyres, especially with 12 inch rear wheels !!!

Michael when it comes to the wheel sizes your running buying a real performance tyre will always cost you big dollars . However if your after value for money in the mid range tyre the Kuhmo Ecsta Uk36's are good value for money. Best bet is to go in and talk to Sam at Tempe tyres and see what he has as at times he's been know to have some top brand tyres Continentals / Pirelli / Dunlops at bargin basement price :thumb:

Hello Jethro,

Will call Sam and see what hes got...

Definitely I need a good sticky tyre.. the Nittos are very under estimated and the Nt05s are like track tyres legalised for the street, where the Nt555's (see pic) are somewhat street tyres for the track.. on occasions....

The problem with running original wheels.. and 17's is that its very hard to get matching sets for front and rears... not that its important... hence why i currently have dunlops and goodyears.

I havent rules these out also.. yes they have more grooves for the wet.. but not intending to go out .. in wet..lol

But just the same, all input is welcomed and use full for future C4 owners.. it would be great to get feedback from a C4 owner on the club or a member of the forum who has tried different tyres to the above.

Thanks M
