OK Girls time for the RECIPE THREAD !! Yummy
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:16:25 AM »
Hi Girls (and boys who are looking but wont admit it)
The recipe thread has started. Post your recipes here so we can all try them.
I'll start it off with my one of my favourite salad recipes. The dressing is amazing and you can make it by itself and use it as you like

Baby Spinach leaves(as much as you need)
8 rashers chopped cooked bacon
2 chopped avocados
1small spanish onion finely chopped
1 tub cherry or grape tomatoes

DRESSING
2 Tblspns apple cider vinegar
2 Tblspns honey
1 tspn seeded mustard

Layer the salad ingredients in a dish in the above order. Mix the dressing ingredients together in a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave for approx15 seconds and drizzle over the salad
 :perfecto: :perfecto: :perfecto:

Cable Car recipe

The name Cable Car was inspired by the tracks near the Starlight Room in San Fransisco where the cocktail was first created.

Prep Time: 3 minutes

Total Time: 3 minutes

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Ingredients:

1 1/2 ounces Captain Morgan Spice Rum
3/4 ounce orange curacao
1 1/2 ounces sour mix
Orange peel spiral for garnish
Super-fine sugar for rimming

Preparation:

Rim a chilled cocktail glass with sugar.
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well.
Strain into the prepared glass.
Garnish with an orange peel spiral.
Drink

Repeat all of above until a warm fussy feeling is obtained, but not to excess :shots:

The Maltese Baked Rice (Ross Fil-Forn) Yummy Yummy  :omg:

2 cups long grain white rice
 1 tablespoon olive oil
 1/2 pound lean ground beef
1 1/2 cups canned crushed tomatoes
 1 1/4 cups chicken stock
 3 bay leaves
salt and black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
 3 eggs
 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

I like to throw in a pinch of curry powder (keens ) but don't tell the die hard Maltese folks cause they Freak out....
 O.k so here we go......

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the ground beef, and cook, stirring to crumble, until evenly browned. Mix in the crushed tomatoes, chicken stock, and bay leaves. Simmer for 25 minutes over low heat.

Or in other words make your typical Spag Bowl Sauce.....

Meanwhile, place the rice into a saucepan with enough water to cover by one inch. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 10 minutes (halfway), then drain off water.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Remove the bay leaves from the sauce, and mix in the half-cooked rice. Stir in the basil, eggs, and mozzarella cheese; season with salt and pepper. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.
Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the rice is tender, and the liquid has been absorbed.

Please don't let Joe Farrugia know I've shared this Maltese Recipe with the Corvette Family  :tears:

ZOMBIE COCKTAIL: Fill a shot glass halfway with peach schnapps. Gently pour Bailey's Irish Cream on top. After the shot is almost full, carefully add a small amount of blue curacao. After it settles, add a few drops of grenadine syrup.......When The Walking Dead comes back on, some of our friends shall be making these.... Thirsty anyone? :cocktail:
