72 spare tyre
« on: July 08, 2013, 05:26:51 AM »
Hey everyone,
Decided to take my spare out the other day and see if it was usable just in case I ever needed to use it in anger.  Discovered a rusty rim with a what I thought was the original tyre.  Upon further investigation, the date code on the tyre indicated that the tyre was not the orginal 1972 spare but was actually made in 1946.  (DOT 1446)  Surprisingly good condition for a tyre of that age.  Obviously not going to use that tyre but the question I have is , Was the original spare a rally wheel of was it some other type.  I would like to get something close to original to replace it.  In addition, what do you do with a nearly 70 year old tyre.

Original spare was a 15x8 rally with an F70 bias ply, same brand as the other 4 it came with.
Put the tyre on eBay, someone will buy it.
