Thanks for your efforts Bob but I bit the bullet & took the car up to Peak Performances work shop in Ulladulla on friday & they did the job without a hitch. I had already purchased all the parts so they just had to get the old ones off and install the new ones (I left them the easy part). All went well and the car was back on the road within 4 hrs, I was impressed. Considering they had never worked on a Vette before they did a great job. The right hand side rear stub axle practically fell off once they removed the park brake hub & disc, they undid the castle nut by hand (thats how loose it was) considering it is suppose to be torqued up to 100ft pounds. Also whilst on the right hand side there was also meant to be a dust sheild which at some point or another must have sheared off & left a quarter of it still on that was not doing the job. That was the easy side. The left side was the worst with the park brake hub & disc proving almost impossible to get off (almost impossible), but with much patience & a nice tone in his voice Dave (The mechanic from Peak) got it off. Then out of all the new parts I bought the one thing I didnt get was what we needed & that was a new castle nut to go onto the inside of the stub axle as when we tried to torque it up to 100ft ponds she gave in. So after 1/2hr turning the work shop upside down & 1/2hr down at the local wrecker we had no luck. Except for the under construction new Peak Perforance power house 1 tonner that they are putting together in the workshop which is a HQ rolling shell complete with front wheel hubs ( emphasis on front wheel hubs) within 2 minutes they had the dust cap & castle nut off & you guessed right it was spot on. From then on it was smooth sailing she torqued up and I was back on the road. That is of course after we bled the brakes & got me a good pedal, lets hope that is the end to my rear caliper piston slap & the loss of my brakes.
Again thanks for your help Bob
Cheers
Steve
