We had the OUR69 out and about but Berry was the mark and that was cause the nurse wanted a candle for the candle shop

Continued woes...

Lad's while I was building the motor I decided to send me gear box for a service , new seal and bearing the box was in good condition the only other thing I did was fit a new needle roller side cover with cam levers thumbs box went back in then the motor went back in and now the gear box is leaking form around the front main input shaft (not the lay shaft) my pretty sure box is a M20 = 2.52 1.88 1.46 1.00 wide and the gear box place is saying the front shaft has no seal and uses a slinger type arrangement and they can't do anything to stop the leak ? Whats your thoughts ?? I really wanted to stay with Muncie 4 speed...

Well Lad's got all me ducks in a row this morning and went calling on the gear box shop in Sydney that rebuilt my Muncie  took  gear box rebuild receipt, warranty , exploded views on Munchie, illustration of the way the front nut /slinger needed to be fitted, and a copy of some documentation for a gear box specialist in the  States which I found that  states .......
"About 25 % of the Muncie i take apart that were rebuilt before have the nut on backwards.... The nut is actually a oil slinger arrangement that is designed to vent the transmission and keep the oil from running out the bearing retainer..."

Owner of the  gear box shop seems a decent bloke and at the end stated  he didn't fit the input shaft to the box so couldn't garentee it wasn't incorrcetrly fitted so :x- 

Long and Short is we argreed upon Box is coming out in 3 weeks time and being sent up to gear box shop to be inspected hopefully it will be one of three things..



1. Input Shaft Nut/ Slinger round the wrong way?



2. Gasket fooked between Front Retaining plate and box



3. Front retaining plate incorrectly fitted and not allowing oil to run back into oil gallery that is drill on for of box...

if so he's picking up the labour costs for the removing and refitting of the box  :o   Fingers Crossed
