doors move when closed
« on: February 04, 2008, 09:35:29 AM »
Hi all, Hoping someone might be able to offer a solution for me with a problem I have with my doors.

When I close the doors they close perfectly and sit well, but I can push them about another 10-15mm inwards, they spring back out again ok, but when im driving the car they rattle a little as well.

There are no rubber stops like the bonnet has, can you buy them for the doors as well ?

Thanks

Hi Mick;ay
I assume that your Corvette is a C3;27
I will also assume that your door hinge bushes are OK and have no play in them;mmm
The problem you have is common and is caused by a worn door striker pin:{

If the door striker pin is ok then it is a worn or poorly fitted door main weather seal;30

If not that your door adjustment has been set up incorrectly and you don't want to go here;29

Hi Chromie,
                   Thanks for your reply, yep I've got a 72 t-top (as per avatar). Door hinge bushes are new and rubbers are new as well. Door closes perfect except movement.

Door striker does does move a little (internally)

So I do need a new pin then, I thought so but a wanted a second opinion.

Thanks

anywhere I can buy a small item like this in Australia without having to pay frieght from the USA

$9.99 for a OEM pair brand new on Ebay, that will do I think. Just waiting on a frieght cost.
