Introducing myself
« on: November 23, 2007, 07:17:59 PM »
Hi Folks,

I'm a new member so I'm saying hello, especially to C3 owners. I live in the North Ryde area.

My aim is to own a Stingray, circa 1970, and I've really only just started looking. I'd prefer a RHD big block.

Last Tuesday Gary Lackersteen very kindly looked over a 1970 big block with me and helped me decide that it wasn't for me. Although the body was fairly straight, and it looked good on the floor, it really was a "bitsa" with a lot of bodgie bits on it.

I should say that I don't have the facilities to strip a car down and rebuild it, even if I had the inclination. I'm really after a turn-key unit that I can have fun in the sun with, and which will grow in value, rather than the reverse, although I am a realist and if I find a basically solid unit that needs a bit of TLC then I'm okay with that.

I was delighted to be invited by Gary to last Tuesday night's BBQ at Doll's Point, and I met a lot of friendly and informative people, including the Fergusons who were glad to learn of another membership north of the Harbour Bridge.

I was also blown away by Gary's b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l blue big block convertible. That, folks, sets the benchmark for me.

I've bought a ticket for Sunday's Christmas party at Lane Cove, where I hope to meet a lot more people and remember, if you're a seller (or know of a seller), I'm a buyer!

Cheers for now,
Graeme

Thanks Cameron.

I noticed the plates, and I figured they might just relate to performance, although I've yet to witness that.

However, I want a car that looks as good as Gary's, though I suspect it'll take some time and effort on my part to reach that standard.

Cheers, Graeme
