Help. Who\'s up on their motors??????
« on: January 02, 2007, 10:47:18 PM »
Question in relation to C3's:-

Is the configuration, angles, fitment betwen the heads and intake manifold on our old 350's the same as the LS1 motors.

i.e. except for maybe bolt holes, dissy holes etc,  lining up, would an LS1 intake manifold fit on an old 350ci?

Cam,
Pretty sure they won't fit as LS-1 engine is very different. No dizzy hole as they use coil packs,Gen 3 different rocker ratio to Gen 1 so I guess heads are very different in spacings. If you pop an e-mail to customer service tech question at summitracing.com I have found them very helpful with this kind of info. What are you thinking of doing injecting your beast, there are some good conv. available. I have a used TPI set up that I no longer need.I think it will fit,you can try it to see if it fits if you want.I think you have my mob. no. give me a call if you like.

Many thanks.  I'll give em a call.

It's no secret.  I want to blow the beast in about 12 months time once the new motor has settled in.  So I'm starting my research now.

To keep it under the hood I have to go injection, no carbie,  I also want to have the air intake from the front.  PWR make a unit but it's for LS1 donks.  Hence my questions.

Yo Cam baby;42
It is simple to check an inlet manifold for fit, all you need is an inlet manifold gasket.;35
Check to see how well it lines up to the ports in the cylinder head and then see if it matches the inlet manifold (commonaly known as port matching.:spook
If the ports match the next item to check is the deck height.'
Simply sit the inlet manifold on the cylinder heads (without gaskets) and check/measure the clearance between the inlet manifold and the front and rear of the engine block. Should be bugger all clearance.:25

NO.
Nothing from a LSX engine fits any previous engine.
Completely new design , different block , heads ,etc which is why it performs so well.

For a Gen I (C3) can use TPI setup or modify a LT1 intake
(lots of work , not approved by the purists on this forum)
