Corvettes needed for TV Commercial
« on: December 05, 2006, 05:43:03 PM »
Hi all,

I have a client making a TV commercial in Brisbane 19-22 Dec for a beer company. Cars will only be needed for 1 to 2 days max.

They are after a good range of classic 1950s /60/70s Muscle / Tough Cars. The kind of cars we are talking about are Cobras, Corvettes, GT40 replicas, modified Falcons, Holdens, Dodge, Valiant or similar. Cars must be in good to perfect condition. Modifications and chrome will also be a good thing.

The fee is around $550 to $1100 depending time needed. Owners are welcome on set. There is no budget to transport cars but if you are willing to travel at your expense then please submit your car.

Please contact me via reply email or at the office to express your interest ASAP. An emailed photo would be a huge asset!!

Actually we did contact him 2 days after this was originally posted as we live in Queensland. Seems in that 2 days he'd found all the cars he needed and also we have early convertibles (62 and 69) and really he needed coupes but we could pay $$ to list the cars with him ...

Draw your own conclusions.

Thanks for the clarification.

I have e-mailed the gentleman concerned with a request for him to pass on to our club some details of his business so we could put to rest any concerns that the members may have.

G'day gang.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I took it apon myself to contact this gentleman and relay the concerns that have been expressed.

Here is a copy of his reply.

I have also asked him if he could supply some references to help put your minds at ease.

"Hi Cameron,

Thanks for the heads up on your forum.

Seems that there are always those that suspect the worst and think they are being scammed. Modern human nature, especially when it comes to the internet.

Just to let you know, my business Vantage Management is real and this post was for real.

Vantage up until this year was a 'scouting business' that found all kinds of people and props for productions. In June we launched our niche agencies, Vantage Star Cars being one of them. Since then we have gathered a solid database of cars for TV and Film and are booking up to ten jobs per week for cars and their owners nationwide. As the word is still spreading about our services it is not surprising that not everyone in the industry knows about us, yet.

In the last 6 months alone we have worked with some of Australia's leading production companies and print including OzCam, Foxtel, Channel 7, Ozpan, Unique Cars and The Herald Sun.

The particular production that is referred to in this post was filmed on Wed 20th (yesterday) in Brisbane. It was for Miller Beer and was Produced by Film Headquarters, one of the leading commercial makers in Queensland. The cars they ended up using were a Daytona Cobra and a Convertible Cobra with a hard top, both cars owned by members of Qld Cobra Club.  Originally they were after Corvettes but they then fell in love with the Cobras (not my influence I can assure you!).

The reason we contacted the NSW Corvette Club was that they were after an amazing car, and were prepared to look outside of Queensland for the right car. It had to be a hardtop as the scene they were doing involved rain and they didn't want to get interiors wet and they were needing to record sound in the car, so rain was going to distort it.

Just for the record, we do charge a fee for owners to list their car with us, it is $25 for the life of the car, This covers our cost of building individual webpage's for each car, admin and marketing. A very fair price I would say, all of the members we have would agree. We also have a solid interactive community within our member base, similar to a car club.

If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me directly using the details below. Our website also contains a lot of information that may help to clear things up. http://www.vantagemanagement.com.au/StarCars.cfm

Regards and Thanks again,
