Hi, just a quick 'warning' or 'awareness' bulletin;  If (like me) you have installed a 'Power now throttle body airfoil' along with a smoothbore Air flow 'Power coupler' – check (often) that the airfoil hasn't shifted itself...Found yesterday that mine HAD – almost halfway towards the MAF sensor! So, I've probably been running at around ½ air flow for a while (The fact that I can't say I noticed a drop in performance, AGAIN brings the question of how much DO these 'performance' parts REALLY give us in H.P. Gain?

Anyway, that's my little note – In hindsight I would have bought the airfoil that screws into the face of the TB so it can't come loose; mine did so only because it relies on the factory concertina type of hose, to hold it in place with the first segment of the hose.

Cheers,
Steve

Every thing i read told me an air foil improves air flow and hence performance. I purchased one and when i had my car dynoed before and after instillation it made no differance, however they probably do make some improvement whilst driving as the air is being forced into the intake but on the dyno NAH!!!!!
Oh put some lock tight on your bolt and that should stop it comming loose.

Thats the point - THIS type doesn't HAVE a bolt; it's secured in the first fold of the (factory) hose coming back from the MAF.  Dunno if I'd like to use locktight where there's a chance of it being 'consumed'...

Thanks for the prompt reply too :-)

According to the people who sell them, yes.

Those who use them, no.

They are regarded as  pretty much worthless.

I'd just take it out and then not worry about it coming loose ;)

Well, since I found a dirty big restriction in the form of 2 'ledges' on the bottom of plenum just behind TB; seems we're p*ssing up against a wall as far as getting smooth airflow goes!  Makes one wonder why they'd buy a bigger TB if they looked behind it!;28

Agreed, there are more airflow restrictions as you go further in, and the long intake runners don't help either.

TB upgrading is no good unless you go a better runner setup IMHO

I'd agree with that.

answer to those ledges is a di grinder ,most of those ledges can be smoothed away ,you can also clean up the plenum internally ,radius edges etc to improve airflow .............for what there is till it gets into the runners

It's not how to remove them that concerns me; rather, WHY did GM put them there in the first place?:ado

does GM really have to have a reason ??? maybe it would have cost them another 50 cents to get removed after the casting was done and the casting had to be done the way it was LOL

...Looks like we'll never know the answer to this one...
