Numbers, Numbers and more Numbers
« on: January 23, 2018, 07:44:42 PM »
Was having a chat on fB today, the subject was C3 - L48 or L82.
This prompted me to get out a book and do a refresh.

Not much difference between a '78 L48 and L82.

In my 78 build book is a page on acc belt routing. (4 pics)

1. L48 with two belts - Alt & P/S pump.
2. L48 & C60 with three belts - Alt, AC & P/S Pump.
3. L48 & NA6 or NB2; L82 with three belts - Alt, P/S pump and A.I.R pump.
4. L48 & NA6 or NB2 and C60; L82 & C60.

Now my car was from a smog state, so it has #4 set up. From this I assume that L82's always had A.I.R fitted.

My question is, since I cant find NA6 or NB2 in my options lists, is it safe to assume  these refer to the A.I.R.

BUT ? why two codes !?!?!?! I'm sure an NCRS person will probably know this off the top of his head.

I'll go and watch the tv untill someone replies........
Regards.

Hey Vettech, I couldn't find all of the codes in my NCRS book, so I hope that the below is helpful.
L48 California was only produced in 350cu, 275hp and a below 4kft turbo Hydra-Matic with 3:55:1. The engine code should be CLR.
NA6 represents High Altitude Emissions (with a $33 retail adder, however none were recorded to be produced).
C60 is air con (37,638 made)
NB2 represents????  Nothing listed.

In summary, you will most likely have C60, but unless your car is an off production freak, it won't include the NA6 option.

Does that help?

Yep L48 was the base model SBC engine.

C60 is off course the AC.

NA6 now rings a bell - high altitude -well done

NB2 -  must by default be the code for the A.I.R.

See  -  team effort........  ..
