Tyres for 87 Vert

My 87 "tramlines" a lot. The steering man has done an alignment and says front end is all good. Front tyres are about half way down on tread so thinking of replacing the tyres. Currently has Sumitomo HRZ 2's on it. Tyres are 275/40/17. It's a late build '87 so may have had the 17's on from new or someone may have put them on. The car is just a weekend cruiser, no track days fore me. What's a popular tyre that the C4 fraternity are using these days?
