Which Tyres do I go?

Hi folks!

Have some 275/40/17 Potenza's fitted on our 1988 C4 The rims are 9.5"  and the tyres are getting to the stage that I really need to consider changing. Question is, would I get away with fitting 275/45/17 on these rims  without scrubbing? I'd rather go the 45 series just gives me that fuller guard look and more importantly a touch higher!

P.S anyone recently purchased a set at realistic pice be interested to hear some feedback on what you thought of the tyres? seems to be a whole heap on new brands in the market of late.....

Got something that will get you out of trouble. For sure I recommend Michelin tyres but got some good rubber for you so long you only streetin' an not TARGA

I have yoko on mine
very quiet and handle great

but will wear out quick if you spin them or do go to whoa etc

I don't think anybody makes a 275/45-17.  You could go up to a 285/40-17 which will be slightly taller than your existing size but the 285 is hard to get in Australia, only Pirelli does them and you'll need to be sitting down for the price.

285's Huh? I've heard that somewhere else... reckon they'd fit without scrubbing hey?

285/40-17 was a standard fitment for the rear of 93-96 Corvettes.  
They shouldn't scrub on the front either.  I have 285/35-18 tyres on the front of my car and they don't scrub.
