:Can anyone advise me where I might be able to pick up a lowering kit eg;lowering bolts for a 73 coupe in Australia. Cheers

You might try Ian at ChevParts Yenora, or Pontiworld down Albion Park way. I know I bought bolts from Chevparts many moons ago, but these were normal length, which still have some adjustment. Plus new rubbers/bushes etc.

Thanks champ I'll give them a try tomorrow.

standard bolts are 8" long.
you can buy  grade 8 bolts at any good industrial bolt suppliers.
Make sure you ask for grade 8 do not accept grade 5.
you will need UNF thread and nilox nuts ( I like grip nuts they are more reliable and you can buy them hardened. )

grade 8 will have six makes on the head of the bolt

this will help
how far do you want to lower the car.

Oh, the reason I changed the bolts was that whilst doing something else I noticed the "originals " were rusted and bably collared, plus the rubbers had turned into concrete, I would imagine its a good idea to replace these at reasonable intervals. And yes Bob is correct they must have the five marks for grade 8.

Have you got castellated nuts  on the bolts at the moment

150 off the ground I have nylon nuts

bfit

The nuts must be close To being as far down the bolt as possible,
The standard measurement would be 7 and 5/8"  ( about 194 mm ) to 8" ( 200mm)
Which means the car is already lowered around 1.5"

The nuts are all the way down as far as they can possibly go. I'm trying to load a photo of the car but haven't been able to.
