Hi,
Is it possible ,and, how difficult is it to lift the body up off the chassis a couple inches? can you do the front , then, the back seperate? I just want to clean and paint the top of the chassis. Its in great shape, but just want to give a lick of paint. I only want to lift it an inch or 2

Way too much work for very little gain Dan, unless you’re going to split the two, leave it alone.

Even 2" wont be high enough, as the body sits over the side rails, the rear battery compartment is one side and the fuel tank is the other of the diff mounting crossmember. Both floor pans sit over sit and down sort of inline with the bottom of the chassis, the chassis is about 5" high, so i would say you would need to lift it about 3" atleast.
you can see the white paint on the side of the chassis rail, that is from NOT masking it off when painting.

IF you are going to unbolt the body
then take it off and do the frame and under body as well
No point in doing half a job
change the mounts while you are at it
keep all the shims in there relative position
if the body is going to be off for a while, then you will need to support is to help prevent it sagging
As nick says way to much work for a little gain

I think i will leave it. Its not that bad at all and the worst bits are easy to get to. I have a hoiste so makes it very easy to work on the underside if the car.
If its lasted 45 years, it will last 45 more.
Ive removed trailing arms and the complete rear end for rebuild, so i will clean what i can and put it back together again
Thanks for advise

No inference intended
Just saying once you pull the body you will just find one little thing after another
And it goes on and on
